/div> Apenorto Festival (also known as Afenorto ) is an annual festival celebrated by the chiefs and people of Mepe > in the North Tongu district in the Volta Region of Ghana . It is usually celebrated in the month of late July and August. Afenorto in the Ewe language means Staying at Home. IMPORTANCE:The festival is a period where stocks of their lives from the previous year are taken. There is also initiation of development plans for the future. Young men also meet their future spouses during the festival. CELEBRATION:During the festival, there is a durbar of chiefs. The people wear regalia for merry making.
